APPG Coastal Communities
The APPG Coastal Communities relaunched in January 2025
To consider current issues affecting coastal communities and to actively seek strategies to address these to enhance health, wellbeing, education, infrastructure, environment and economies within these unique communities.
"The All-Party Parliamentary Group will act as a voice for our coastal communities, places with a special place in many people’s memories from holidays, but that have been too often forgotten in national policies and priorities.
“They face multiple challenges such as weak transport links, economies based on declining industries, a lack of opportunities for young people, poor health and housing, which can be all the more acute because of their geography.
“Yet their location at the interface of the land and the sea also means they have enormous potential. The APPG will be looking for innovative solutions that will create places that people can feel proud of and where young people will want to stay to build a future.”
Chair, Alison Hume MP, Scarborough & Whitby
The CCA are providing the co-secretariat for the group, in partnership with the Coastal Partnership Network and the LGA Coastal SIG.
