Bridgwater Arts Centre – Opera for All Concert

Thursday 19th October 2017.

As part of our autumn residency in Bridgwater, Garsington Opera for All will present a free concert at Bridgwater Arts Centre on Thursday 19 October.  The first part of the concert will tell the story of Semele and will feature extracts from the opera; the second part of the concert will comprise highlights from other well-known operas.  Come along and join us for an entertaining evening of music – tickets are free, but must be booked through the Bridgwater Arts Centre website; further details can be found here.

Garsington Opera’s production of Semele was screened in King Square, Bridgwater, as part of the inaugural Bridgwater Quayside Festival on Saturday 29 July 2017.  The Festival was a new, free one-day event with outdoor activities and entertainment, street theatre, live music, stalls, food, dance, circus, puppets and attractions for everyone throughout the town.  Keep an eye on the Bridgwater Quayside Festival website for details of future events.

In the autumn of 2017, Garsington Opera for All will again partner with the McMillan Theatre and the Somerset Music Hub to deliver a programme of schools’ workshops throughout the Bridgwater area, inspired by Handel’s Semele.

Students from age 6 to 18 will have the opportunity to experiment with story telling, compose new music and explore character acting.

The following short film of this year’s inaugural Bridgwater Quayside Festival shows the Opera for All screen and community workshop performance in King Square as well as giving a sense of the atmosphere and excitement of the day.
