Weston-super-Mare

South West

Weston-super-Mare’s town centre is poised to become a lively university centre where more people want to live, learn and spend their leisure time. The opportunity now presents to develop a stronger, more diverse local economy to equip Weston to better meet future challenges. Through the coastal community team, the council are working together with key local partners including the Town Centre Partnership, the Town Council and the Chamber of Commerce, to develop a joint approach to supporting Weston’s growth.

Proposals include making Weston a more attractive place for young professionals, developing good quality modern urban apartments right in the town centre. This will be supported by the development of a creative hub, providing a focus for Weston’s creative digital and tech economy and a catalyst for emerging cultural sector entrepreneurship.

New vitality will be injected into the leisure economy through an £18m town centre development at Dolphin Square, and at the same time Weston College is creating a flagship Law and Professional Services Academy right in the centre.

The collective momentum of these developments and the joint efforts of all partners will help ensure the vision for Weston town centre is bright.
