Burnham on Sea

Burnham-on-Sea is a town on the north coast of Somerset enjoying seven miles of west facing beaches and is bordered by the Somerset Levels. The population is around 20,000 and the town attracts a good flow of visitors whose numbers peak during school holidays. It has a busy town centre with more than 200 shops and businesses, of which 70% are independent. It has an independent cinema, a theatre run by the town council and hosts in excess of 70 constituted community groups.

The Coastal Community Team has published an agreed Economic Plan for Burnham-on-Sea. The Town Council is currently working with Sedgemoor District Council and other partners to identify suitable projects and sources of funding to enhance the town centre, sea front appeal and visitor experience. The team is keen to see the town work well for its residents and holidaymakers and to increase its economic contribution across the year and across the district.
