Sheringham

East of England

Sheringham is a thriving coastal town in North Norfolk with a proud fishing heritage and an envious reputation as a holiday destination. Although the fishing industry is smaller than it was during its heyday a century ago, crabs and lobsters landed in the town are still enjoyed across the country.

It is the home of the North Norfolk Railway, a steam railway that runs on the Poppy Line, and the town hosts various festivals and events. These include the annual carnival, a 1940s weekend, the Sheringham and Cromer Crab & Lobster Festival, and the Cromer & Sheringham Art & Literary Festival.

A number of local partners are behind the Sheringham Coastal Community Team – including the district and town councils, the Sheringham Chamber of Trade & Commerce and other key organisations – and they all share a vision to make the town even more of a jewel of the Norfolk coast. This joint commitment will help the town build on its rich heritage and increase its visitor numbers, driving Sheringham’s economic growth and  reinforcing its appeal as a vibrant and attractive place in which to live and work.
