New Brighton, Wirral

North West

New Brighton faces the Irish Sea on Merseyside’s Wirral peninsula, between the River Mersey and the Irish Sea.  In 2011, Promenade Estates’ £60m regeneration injected new life into the resort, attracting restaurants, food and drink outlets, shops, a supermarket, cinema and a hotel, and the area is now bustling with visitors.

Attractions include the £12m Floral Pavilion Theatre and Conference Centre, New Brighton Marine Lake, daily overtopped by the tide, and Vale Park, with its own unique ‘fairy village,’ and close neighbour, the ‘Black Pearl, a community-built driftwood ‘pirate’ ship that attracts international attention.  Three grassed seafront ‘dips’ host picnics and events, and two local shopping centres are home to independent businesses, cafes, convenience stores and quirky ‘vintage’ style shops.

Formed in July 2015, New Brighton Coastal Community Team includes community and voluntary groups and organisations, local businesses and Wirral Council.  More than 80 traders and groups are represented with a collective membership of over 650 individuals.  The vision for New Brighton is to consolidate its position as a year round destination, attracting increased day trippers and overnight stays and providing jobs, while supporting and responding to the needs of the local community.
