The town of Blyth sits in the south east corner of Northumberland and is the county’s largest town. It has had a long shipping and coal mining history with a market town centre, however, the years of industrial and economic decline has changed the face of Blyth. The energy sector has become an important focus in Blyth and it is rapidly establishing itself as a base for the oil and gas sector.
The Blyth Coastal and Community Team have a vision to make Blyth a vibrant, confident and supportive community that celebrates its past achievements, is proud of its present strengths, and is ambitious for its future. We will work towards generating inward investment in capital and revenue based cultural projects, industry linked educational and training programmes, and international and national events that position Blyth as a regular host on the tourism calendar.
