Coastal people, places and maps

There are around 3.5 million people living in or near the 125 seaside resorts spread around the 6250 miles of English coastline. The resorts are administered by 42 district councils, 14 county councils and 19 unitary authorities. Figures 2-1 and 2-2 show England’s resorts and the coastal local authorities.
