Land owned by ELDC which is shortly to come onto the market with the potential for development as a mixed site. Over the past 12 months there has been an increasing commercial interest from private sector developers looking at Skegness generally and the Southern Foreshore site in particular. This interest was initially triggered by the Council’s successful bid to win the right to licence a small coastal casino under the Gambling Act 2005, but has since materialised as a more general interest in the regeneration of the site.
The recent re-emergence of the Government’s casino legislation has increased the likelihood that East Lindsey District Council will be given approval to award a casino operators licence, leading to the development of a new casino on the Lincolnshire’s coastline.
East Lindsey District Council commissioned BDP Ltd in September 2007 to undertake a feasibility and options appraisal study for a major redevelopment of Skegness Railway Station. .

Funding, linked to the Local Transport Plan, is available every five years and they have around £350K available for Skegness to invest in projects that will look at things like new pedestrian crossings, cycleways, improved footways, street lighting, junction improvements etc.
