Amid the changing regeneration landscape of LEPs, RGF and Enterprise Zones, there are national initiatives emerging that focus on coastal towns regeneration. We had anticipated reviewing two of the initiatives here - the guidance for the new £24m (£18m for English coastal towns) Coastal Communities Fund (CCF) and the proposed autumn DBIS national seminar on enterprise development in coastal areas. Both initiatives are still in the development stages with DCLG and The Big Fund finalising the details of the CCF, and DBIS now anticipating the coastal enterprise seminar taking place early in the New Year.
The combination of the Coastal Communities Fund, the location of several of the new Enterprise Zones in coastal locations and the DBIS review of coastal enterprise development, are morale boosting initiatives for coastal regeneration practitioners that could stimulate new leadership and new thinking in coastal regeneration.
These reviews will follow shortly
