Ipswich, the County town of Suffolk, is known as ‘East Anglia’s Waterfront Town’. Its roots lie in portside industry. Today it has been transformed into a dramatic amphitheatre situated around a marina that includes restaurants, bars, cafes, hotels, the University campus, an internationally renowned dance house, plus exclusive yachts and motorboats bobbing around in the water- and, all a short walk from the retail high street and the railway station.
As a Coastal Community Team, all partners in Ipswich (BID, Councils, LEP, Chamber of Commerce and University) have agreed a common Vision for further dramatic improvement to their place and aim to create a unique customer experience when visiting the town. A new Vision Board will drive this. In addition, a Destination Management Organisation (DMO) has been formed to take forward proposals to increase visitor numbers.
These are exciting times in Ipswich!
