Burnham on Sea
Burnham-on-Sea is a town on the north coast of Somerset enjoying 7 miles of west facing beaches and is surrounded by the Somerset Levels. The population is around 14,000 and it enjoys buoyant visitor numbers which peak during school holidays. It has a busy town centre with over 200 shops and businesses, over 70% of which are independent. It has wan independent cinema, theatre and hosts in excess of 70 constituted community groups.
The Coastal Community Team is made up of local businesses, community groups, councillors and is led by the Town Centre Manager. We aim to publish an agreed Economic Plan for Burnham-on-Sea by end of January 2016 that details the opportunities [funding sources, locations, partnerships etc.], specifics [what, where, led by whom] and timescales.
The plan will be drawn up following research (qualitative, quantitative and desktop review of existing research), consultation by the partnership parties with their client groups and engagement with other interested parties identified via publicity.
