Bridport

South West

Bridport is an historic market town in West Dorset with a thriving market and a large number of independent businesses. West Bay, also known as Bridport Harbour, is a small coastal settlement, adjoining the town. It is part of the Jurassic World Heritage Coast, centred round the harbour and surrounded by beautiful countryside.

This is a popular tourism destination but there are some challenges for the area and the Coastal Community Team (CCT) has been established with an initial vision to encourage visitors, support existing businesses and ensure residents and visitors can enjoy West Bay and its surrounding area, improving links with the town whilst protecting the special characteristics of the area. This vision and resulting projects will be developed by the CCT through consultation and engagement, as part of the work to produce an Economic Plan.

The CCT includes representatives of the Chamber of Trade, Tourism Association, Bridport Local Area Partnership (representing almost 200 community groups), West Bay Community Forum, District, County and Town Councils.

The CCT will put in place a structure to ensure continued and sustainable partnership working, to monitor the implementation and delivery of projects in the Economic Plan.
