"Seeking to build alliances and common purpose around the coast of Britain, with a particular focus on socio-economic challenges, having its original locus on the Lincolnshire Coast and whilst developing a national focus, being derived from the best practice and innovative thinking nested within the East Midlands Coastal Action Zone."
The CCA steering group currently comprises: the Local Government Association’s Coastal Special Interest Group (SIG); British Resorts and Destination Association (BRADA), the British Urban Regeneration Association (BURA), and Lincolnshire County Council.
The CCA operates as a brokerage organisation whose operations are mediated through this website and via e-mail, in order to maximise communications and to utilise partner time. High profile national meetings are held quarterly (see notes of November meeting).
Current CCA work includes developing a matrix of the priorities and specialisms of coastal local authorities. This information will be used to inform the Coastal Regeneration Handbook that will be published in 2009
While there is no subscription fee to join the work of the Alliance, partners may be requested to provide local intelligence in the development of specific coastal activities and campaigns. Partners may also be requested/offer to lead on a coastal issue where they have the expertise and/or where the issue is a particular local concern.
The Secretariat of the CCA is provided Lincolnshire County Council as part of the authorities ongoing objectives of improving service delivery and generating new approaches to improving the quality of life and the standard of living for Lincolnshire’s coastal communities.
